Some time ago, a certain planet home to a certain simeon-adjacent race of organisms was set to be colonized by insurmountable alien forces. A Saiyan whose name was lost to time made an agreement with his pregnant wife: once the baby was born, it would be sent away to another planet so that it could live a life free of the conflict and turmoil set to befall them, and so they could stay and fight for as long as they could unhindered. A hunter on a distant planet known as Earth found a strange storage compartment in the woods, and figuring it to be some forgotten camping equipment, looked inside to find a near-emaciated infant with a monkey's tail. He rushed home with the child, where he and his wife nursed it back to health and raised it as their own. They found no issue with the strange tail due to the wife specializing in the medical field of birth defects and deformities.

That child would then mature into the Saiyan known as Turnip.

Due to almost starving to death as a baby, Turnip would grow up with several chronic health problems and therefore be unfit for the life of a true Saiyan warrior as an adult. Plus, they had no interest in fighting due to having grown up in an environment that didn't necessitate it. Instead, with the help of their grandpa who was a bluegrass artist in his heyday, they gravitated towards music, specifically punk and dad rock. They found their home at hardcore venues and dyed their hair all sorts of crazy colors. Their dream was to be a rock and roll star, but that dream would have to be set aside as more of a hobby.

As an adult, they got a job on the Time Patrol, but not as a patroller of course-- as an archivist. To anyone else, a boring desk job such as this would hardly be work for a Saiyan, but to Turnip, it was what paid the bills. Living in Conton City is expensive, after all. That wasn't to say that their music career was fully put on the backburner; their life away from work was full of frequenting live concerts and karaoke bars as well as busying themself with learning guitar and keyboard. They've still got a long road ahead when it comes to that front, but they put in the hours of practice.

Despite their vices of smoking and drinking, Turnip is a resilient soul who always tries to see the bright side in things. Quick-witted and personable, they are always trying new ways to do things even in a profession as antiquated as archives. Sometimes they think about how life would have been like if they hadn't been sent to Earth, if they had stayed and fought alongside their parents, but in their mind, sometimes the best fighting one can do is to live happily day to day in spite of garbage circumstances outside of one's own control.

it wasn't always this way
